Product Focus: FP2067 Food Safe Crosslinker For Wet Bond Adhesives

FP 2067 is a water based crosslinker containing ammonium zirconium salts. Crosslinkers are used to link polymer chains and strengthen an adhesive bond. It is designed to be added press side to water based wet bond adhesives for laminating aluminium foil or metallised film to paper or cardboard.

In particular it reacts with carboxylate and hydroxyl groups within the adhesive polymer to give improved bond strength and higher heat resistance to adhesive formulae.

FP 2067 was developed for use in high performance food packaging and works well with our standard range of wet bond adhesives. For more information please refer to our free Buyers Guide To Wet Bond Adhesives.

Food Safety

FP 2067 complies with the requirements of the Bfr XXXV1 recommendation and may be safely used in the manufacture of papers/cartons in contact with food within the permitted level of 1.25mg/dm2.

FP 2067 also complies with:

  • FDA176.170 – Indirect food additives: Paper and paperboard components. Components in contact with aqueous and fatty foods at 2.5% weight of coating solids.
  • FDA 176.180 – Components of paper and paperboard in contact with food.

Properties Application

  • Total Solids Content 44.0 - 48.0 %
  • Viscosity below 50 m. Pas.
  • pH prefers slightly alkaline conditions 7.0 – 9.0

Add FP 2067 at the press side immediately before application. The best addition level is 1% by volume wet on wet.

FP 2067 is irreversibly sensitive to frost. It should be stored in sealed containers and kept at temperatures between 5 and 20°C at all times. Appropriate personal protective equipment must be worn when handling FP 2067. Full details are given in the appropriate Material Safety Data Sheet – get in touch for further details.
